December 5, 2019Highlighting exhibitions that feature the work of WSW artists, we share the shows near and far that make up our monthly must-see list.
New York
Join us on December 7th from 5:00 to 7:00 pm at the idea garden for the opening of Rhyme/Repeat! This exhibition showcases the work of local high school students who came to our studios as part of our Art-in-Education program. With history as a thematic guide, students used various printmaking and papermaking techniques to create a body of work that explores themes of narrative, biography, and repetition. Tara Sabharwal (Studio Workspace ’16, Beisinghoff Residency ’17) , Barbara Beisinghoff (Artist’s Book Residency ’09), Alicia Henry (Public Art Residency ’17), Eloise Plamondon (Beiginghoff Residency ’17), Golnar Adili (Legacy Studio Residency ’15), and Anne-Marie Lavigne (Legacy Studio Residency ’16) will all be in a group show, In Between, at Women’s Studio Workshop. The show will be on view until December 20th.
Mary Tremonte (Studio Residency Grant ’19) will have a pop up show and sale, Mary Mack & Friends, at Sassafras Mercantile on December 8th. The sale is from 1:00 to 6:00 pm and will close with an afternoon DJ dance party from 4:00 to 6:00 pm.
T. Klacsmann (Studio Workspace Residency ’15) is excited to have work in the upcoming exhibition, En Masse, at Thompson Giroux Gallery on view from December 7th to January 12th.
T. Klacsmann (Studio Workspace Residency ’15) has work featured in the 8th Annual Juried Group Show at The Laffer Gallery on display from December 7th to January 12th.
T. Klacsmann (Studio Workspace Residency ’15) has work in the exhibition, Artists of the Mohawk Hudson Region, at the Hyde Collection on display through December 4th.
Lise Prown (Chili Bowl Workspace Residency ’17) has curated the exhibition, Dataism, on view at ArtsWestchester through January 25th.
Jill Parisi (Studio Residency Grant ’04) is part of the group exhibition, Polychrome, on view at Kenise Barnes Fine Art through December 21st.
Trudy Barnes (Studio Workspace Residency ’18) is part of a group exhibition, Solar Impressions Juried Exhibition, on view through December 29th at Southampton Arts Center.
Clarissa Sligh (Artist’s Book Residency Grant ’88, ’04) has work in Walt Whitman’s Words: Inspiring Artists Today at The Center for Book Arts. The show will be up until December 14th.
Sarah-Anne Winchester (Ceramics Intern ’19) will be a part of a group exhibition, The Cup, The Mug, on view until December 14th at Main Street Arts.
Amanda Thackray (Artist’s Book Residency Grant ’09) has created a sculptural paper installation that will be on view at Plant Cure Brooklyn, curated by Maddy Rosenberg. The exhibition will be up until December 13th.
Amanda Thackray (Artist’s Book Residency Grant ’09) is Artist in Residence at The Museum of Arts and Design. Visit her in the studio through January 31st.
Lydia Rubio (Studio Workspace Residency ’98) will have work on view at The Center for Book Arts as part of The Traveling Artist: Journals by Lydia Rubio. There will be an artist’s talk on December 5th at 6:30 pm.
Suzanne Benton (’85) has work in the exhibition, Heavy Metal, on display at Odetta Gallery until January, 4th.
Connecticut
Jennifer Davies (Studio Workspace Residency ’03) has an exhibition, Casting a Net, on display at City Gallery on view through December 29th. The opening reception is on December 8th from 2:00 to 5:00 pm and her the artist talk will be December 29th at 2:00 pm.
Fafnir Adamites (Studio Residency Grant ’17) is part of the group exhibition, Somewhere in the Sequence, on display at Real Art Ways on through late December.
Massachusetts
Jessica Caponigro (Legacy Studio Residency Grant ’19) has work featured in the exhibition WORDART at Spaceus. The opening reception will be on December 6th from 6:00 to 8:00 pm and the exhibition will be on display through the end of December.
Aurora Brush (Studio Internship ’19) has a piece, Only the Hermit Thrush Call Can Reassure Me, featured in the Boston Printmakers Student Print Exhibition 2019, on display at the Mazmanian Gallery through December 13th.
T. Klacsmann (Studio Workspace Residency ’19) recently had their work, “Scherzo in Gray: Falcon and Mouse,” purchased by Smith College Museum of Art. It will become part of the Cunningham Center for the Study of Prints, Drawings and Photographs.
Rachel Frank (Artist’s Book Residency Grant ’10) is part of a group exhibition, In the Weeds: Art and the Natural World, at Wheaton College on display through December 12th.
Join Fafnir Adamites (Studio Residency Grant ’17) at the Boston Sculptors Gallery on December 6th from 5:30 to 8:30 pm for the closing reception for their exhibition, Inheritance. The last day to visit this show is December 8th.
Wisconsin
Courtney Parbs (Studio Internship ’19) has a solo exhibition, Mamaya, okay?, at Yours Truly Studio on December 6th from 6:00 to 9:00 pm.
Texas
Sarah Fox (Parent Residency ’19) has a solo exhibition, Bruisers, on display at grayDUCK Gallery, featuring work created during her recent WSW residency. This exhibition is on display though December 20th.
Pennsylvania
Pamela J Wallace (Ora Schneider Regional Residency ’12) is part of the group exhibition, Forging a Link – Metalsmiths Respond to the Mercer Collection, at the Mercer Museum on display through January 5th.
Amanda Thackray (Artist’s Book Residency Grant ’09) is part of the two person exhibition, Ideogrammatic, at Brick + Mortar Gallery on display through December 1st.
Vermont
Fafnir Adamites (Studio Residency Grant ’17) has an exhibition, Interfere (with), at the Brattleboro Museum & Art Center on display through March 7th, 2020. Adamites will be giving a corresponding artist talk on December 18th at 7:00 pm.
Arizona
Rachel Frank (Artist’s Book Residency Grant ’10) has an exhibition, Thresholds, at the Museum of Contemporary Art Tucson. The show will be on display through December 29th.
Florida
Suzanne Benton (’85) has work featured at The Vinoy Hotel on December 12th from 5:30 to 7:30 pm.
Missouri
Zarina Hashmi (Artist’s Book Residency ’91) has an exhibition, Zarina: Atlas of Her World, at Pulitzer Arts Foundation in St Louis. The show will be on view until February 2nd.
