#FirstFriday September Exhibitions We Love!

Highlighting exhibitions that feature the work of WSW artists, we share the shows near and far that make up our monthly must-see list.


New York

Lucy Holtsnider (AIE Workspace Residency ’18) has a solo show, Blind Spots, at Womenswork.art Gallery in Poughkeepsie. The show will have an opening reception on September 6th from 6-9pm. The show will be on view until September 27th. There will be a public artist talk on the 8th from 3-4 pm, and a collage workshop on the 15th from 1-4 pm.

Undine Brod (Ora Schneider Regional Residency Grant ’15) has a new show, Those Amongst Us, at QueenCity15 Gallery. The opening is September 6th from 5-8pm. The show will be on view until September 28th, and there will be an artist talk on September 14th from 3-4pm.

Lorraine Cruz (Summer Intern ’19), Savannah Bustillo (Studio Intern ’19), Perri Murray (Studio Intern ’19), Courtney Parbs (Studio Intern ’19) , and Carlie Waganer (Nonprofit Management Intern ’19) are all in a group show at Women’s Studio Workshop, titled Shifting Points. There will be an opening reception on September 10th from 5:30-7:30pm, in conjunction with WSW’s monthly slide night. The show will be on view until September 21st.

Amanda Thackray (Artist’s Book Residency Grant ’09) has created a sculptural paper installation that will be on view at Plant Cure Brooklyn, curated by Maddy Rosenberg. The opening is September 4th from 6-8pm, and the exhibition will be on view until December 13th.

Lydia Rubio (Studio Workspace Residency ’98) and Tate Klacsmann (Studio Workspace Residency ’15) are both showing work as part of an exhibition, Protest Art, at Time & Space Limited. The exhibition will be on view for the entire month of September.

DM Witman (Workspace Residency ’12) is exhibiting with Adriene Hughes in a show called Icebergs and Wildfires at Klompching Gallery in Brooklyn. The opening reception is on September 5th from 6-8pm. The exhibition will be on view until October 11th.


California

Andrea Chung (Studio Residency Grant ’16) is having her first solo show, …Only To Meet Nothing That Wants You, at Klowden Mann Gallery in LA! The show opens on September 6th from 6-9pm and will be on view until October 13th.


Georgia

Mary Gordon (Summer Inter ’14, Studio Intern ’16) will be in a group exhibition, Monologue: Five Contemporary Printmakers, at the Mason-Scharfenstein Museum of Art in Demorest, GA. The exhibition will be on view until September 26th.


Missouri

Zarina Hashmi (Artist’s Book Residency ’91) has an upcoming exhibition, Zarina: Atlas of Her World, at Pulitzer Arts Foundation in St Louis. The show opens on September 6th and will be on view until February 2, 2020.
