Meet the panelists! The majority of WSW’s opport Meet the panelists! The majority of WSW’s opportunities are awarded by outside panels composed of artists, organizers, educators, curators, or librarians. We want to introduce you to the individuals who selected our resident artists in FY 2023! Today we are featuring Rosario Parker Gordon @rosario_.gordon

Rosario Parker Gordon is an artist and writer, currently based in Minneapolis, MN. Their work explores the culturally specific contexts of mancrafts in the American Midwest, institutional critiques, and micro-community culture. They have exhibited work locally and nationally and have contributed to zines, such as HAIR + NAILS ZINE and Post-Mortem Zine, as well as written for academic journals.
We are so pleased to welcome LaToya M. Hobbs ( @la We are so pleased to welcome LaToya M. Hobbs ( @latoyahobbs ) to our studios for a six-week Studio Residency Grant!

Of her work, Hobbs says, "As a painter and printmaker, I use figurative imagery to facilitate an ongoing dialogue about the Black female body in the hope of showcasing a more balanced perception of our womanhood, one that dismantles prevailing stereotypes. My practice incorporates the production of mixed-media works that seamlessly marry traditional painting and relief printmaking techniques on a single surface. These hybrid works employ the use of pattern, color, and texture to provide a visceral experience that is both universal and specific."

Welcome LaToya!

We want to introduce you to the individuals who selected our resident artists in FY 2023! Today we are featuring Deb Dormody!

Deb Dormody most recently served for over seven years as the Deputy Director for the Artist Communities Alliance – an international association providing services to the artist residency field – where she directed operational practices and policies to support the organization’s strategic initiatives and equitable values. Deb is a professional bookbinder, having founded If’n Books + Marks in 2000, whose work has been featured in American Craft, HGTV, and Handmade Nation, among others. Deb serves on the board of CERF+ who provide emergency readiness and relief support to artists working in craft disciplines, and was previously appointed as co-chair of the Dirt Palace Public Projects board of directors, an intersectional feminist art space and residency program. She is a former co-owner of Craftland, a shop showcasing work by independent artists. Deb understands the role of collaboration and networks in sparking collective change, and is invested in mending the historic distribution of power and resources in the arts.

We are pleased to announce the publication of The We are pleased to announce the publication of The Song of the Bestiary, by artist @corinneteed ! This book honors the exuberance of more-than-human animals. Centered on each page are species who have been documented engaging in a form of group sex, reveling in collective pleasure. It is a queer codeswitch that riffs on the 1935 limited edition book, The Song of Songs Which is Solomons, illustrated and hand-illuminated by Valenti Angelo. The publication offers a celebration of the queer and promiscuous fauna by whom we are surrounded and shaped.
