New York
October 4th-December 2nd: Check out long-time community member Annie O’Neill‘s Alegría Art Show at the Gardiner Library to see her vibrant paintings inspired by Mexican folk art.
October 7th 2024-October 7th 2025: Go see a site specific installation in Riverside Park by Malin Abrahamsson (2018 Studio Workspace Residency). Moon Finder is part of a collaboration between the Art Students League of New York and the New York City Department of Parks & Recreation which commissioned four site-specific installations for the Manhattan park.
November 2-22: Visit Figurework@Green in Saugerties to see Susan Newmark‘s (1995 Studio Workspace Resident) solo exhibition Erasure. Newark’s work is also featured in the Brooklyn Artists Exhibition which features more than 200 Brooklyn-based artists. You can see this group show at the Brooklyn Museum until January 26th.
Women’s Studio Workshop is hosting the traveling exhibition, A Radical Alteration: Women’s Studio Workshop as a Sustainable Model for Art Making, curated by Maymanah Farhat. The exhibition will be on view at our campus from July 8th to January 2025 before it moves to National Museum of Women in the Arts in Washington, DC.
November 7: To delve deeper into the exhibition, register here for the free virtual curatorial talk: A Radical Alteration: Exploring the Exhibition. At 3 PM, join us for a panel discussion and Q&A with Maymanah Farhat, Golnar Adili, IBé Bulinda Crawley, and Faythe Levine.
November 13: Hudson Area Library is hosting an author talk by Faythe Levine (WSW archivist) about her new book As Ever, Miriam. You can a reserve a seat to hear Levine discuss her research by emailing [email protected] or calling 518-828-1792×101. November 16: Check out the opening of The Hudson Seed Company’s The Art of Seed 2025 Art Pack Collection. The exhibition features a group of contemporary artists, including Liz Castaldo (2024 Art-in-Ed Workspace Residency), who collaborated with the company to design unique seed packaging.
California
November 16-December 29: Cura Contemporary in Morgan Hill will host a colorful solo of Laura Crehuet Berman (1997 Studio Intern) exhibition titled Each and Every. Berman, currently a professor in the printmaking department at Kansas City Art Institute, is starting a residency at MacArthur Place in Sonoma, CA this month as well.
October 10-Nov 7: See Beth Fein‘s (2017 Studio Workspace Residency) work in From River to Ocean: Artists Respond to Environmental Impacts at the L.H. Horton Art Gallery in San Joaquin. Fein is also a part of the California Jewish Open at the Contemporary Jewish Museum in San Francisco. This exhibition is on view until April 20th.
New Mexico
October 25-February 21: The Poeh Cultural Center has a solo exhibition of Rhiannon Skye Tafoya’s (2025 Artist’s Book Residency Grant, 2019 Art-in-Ed Artist’s Book Residency Grant) multimedia work. The exhibition is titled My Hands Are Tied and showcases Tafoya’s printmaking, digital designs, and basketry.

October 12-January 26: Visit the Danforth Art Museum at Framingham State University to experience DM Witman‘s (2012 Studio Workspace Residency) solo exhibition Ecologies of Restoration.
Virginia
Preservation Virginia named IBé Bulinda Crawley‘s (2021 Artist Book Grant Resident) IBé Arts Institute a recipient of the Katherine Glaize Rockwood Community Preservation Award.
Book Releases
Multimedia artist Hawley Hussey (1987 Artist Book Grant Resident) has recently published a “Tall Tale Memoir” called The Lonesome Threesome. Hussey, who received her MFA from Vermont College in 1999, had her new book named as “5 Books to Read in September 2024” in Chronogram Magazine.
