#FirstFriday: May Exhibitions We Love!

Highlighting exhibitions that feature the work of WSW artists, we share the shows near and far that make up our monthly must-see list.


New York

Lorrie Fredette (Studio Workspace Resident ’10) has work in a group exhibition, “Among Friends”, at Equity Gallery. The show will be on view from May 6, 2022 until May 22, 2022.

Carlie Waganer (Nonprofit Management Inter ’19, WSW Programs and Operations Coordinator) has a solo show, “If You Lived Here, You’d Be Home”, at Store_Space. The show opens on Saturday, May 7, 2022 and include a live paper marbling demonstration.

Emily Lambert (Studio Intern 94’) has a solo show, All in Alive, at Freight + Volume Gallery. The show is currently on view and will be up until May 7, 2022.

Amelia Toelke (Ora Schneider Regional Residency Grant ’21) will have three works on display in an outdoor group exhibition, “Florescence”, at the Turley Gallery. The artwork in the show are sculptures of large scale pin-back buttons that were first shown as a multi-site public art installation in 2020 in Rochester, NY. The indoor/outdoor show will be on view from May 7, 2022 to June 19, 2022 and there will be on opening reception May 7 from 3-5pm.

Tate Klacsmann (Studio Workspace Resident ‘15) has a solo show, “Habitat”, currently up at the Thompson Giroux Gallery. The show closes on May 8, 2022.

Tatana Kellner (WSW Founder) has work currently on view in a group exhibition, “Focus on the Flatfiles: Personal Matters”, at the Kentler International Drawing Space. The show is on view from now until June 5, 2022.


Connecticut

Jennifer Davies (Studio Workspace Residency ’03) has a solo show, “In Mind and Hand”, at City Gallery from May 6, 2022 until May 29, 2022. There will be an opening reception on May 7 from 1-4pm.


Georgia

Kelly Taylor Mitchell (Studio Workspace Residency 21’) has a solo show, Preaching to the Choir, on view at the Callanwolde Fine Arts Center. The show is currently up from now until May 15, 2022.


North Carolina

Laura Casas (Ceramics Intern ’19) will be co-teaching a workshop, Artist Series: Selling Your Artwork, at the Sertoma Arts Center on Saturday, May 21, 2022 from 1pm – 4 pm.


California

Beth Fein (Studio Workspace Resident ’17) will have a piece, titled “Momentary Dance”, at the Kala Art Institute Auction and Benefit. The online and in-person auction will be open until Sunday, May 22, 2022.


United Kingdom

Lizzie Ridout (Artist Book Residency Grant ’11) is in a group exhibition, “The Only Thing More Slippery Than The Elbow”, at Auction House, Redruth. The exhibition is open from now until May 7, 2022.


Alberta, Canada

Elizabeth Rose (Art-in-Education Workspace Residency 22’) has a solo show, Zones / Indicators, opening at Alberta Printmakers Studio. The show is currently on view until Friday May 13, 2022.
