We are pleased to announce that Women’s Studio Wor We are pleased to announce that Women’s Studio Workshop is one of sixty organizations across New York state to be recognized with a NYSCA Reserve Fund Grant from New York State Council on the Arts (NYSCA) @nyscouncilonthearts and New York Foundation for the Arts (NYFA) @nyfacurrent.

As the national arts funding landscape shifts, WSW is focusing on financial sustainability and resilience. Establishing a Reserve Fund is essential to protecting our progress and ensuring that we can respond to unexpected challenges such as rising operational costs, economic downturns, or emergency repairs without disrupting our core programs.

The NYSCA Reserve Fund Grants program was established in 2025 to help New York State-based nonprofit arts organizations to establish a reserve fund or build on an existing reserve fund. We are so honored to be among the first recipients of this vital program!

Mo Nuñez Alzate @flotsam0jetsam (Studio Residency Mo Nuñez Alzate @flotsam0jetsam (Studio Residency Grant) has been hard at work in our papermaking studio. Over the past few weeks, they have been experimenting with silkscreen mesh as a stencil for pulp paint and using our large-scale vacuum table!

Through Mo’s practice, they attempt to approximate and articulate the textures of intimacy, the edges of want and desire, and access ways of knowing through the body. Their work gives primacy to the physical and aesthetic qualities of materials over their symbolic or cultural connotations. They see this work as one trying to cultivate sets of relationships with materials as sites for potential intimacies.
