January 17 – March 28: Luhring Augustine is showing a solo exhibition of works by Zarina (Artist’s Book Residency Grant, 1991) titled Beyond the Stars. Surveying Zarina’s decades long career, “the exhibition highlights the breadth and enduring relevance of her artistic vision” underscoring Zarina’s deep engagement with the “the history, politics, and culture of the twentieth century.”

January 21 – February 11: As a culmination of their residency at the School of Art & Design at SUNY Purchase, SR Legeune (Studio Internship, 2016, Art-in-Ed Workspace Residency 2025) is showing their solo exhibition tilt at the Richard and Dolly Maass Gallery! Go check it out!

January 24 – March 29: Golnar Adili’s (Legacy Studio Residency Grant, 2015, Artist’s Book Residency Grant, 2021) site specific installation To Measure the Emotions of Others at Smack Mellon! “The exhibition indexes linguistic gestures from the artist’s mother and late father, who were leftist activists during the Iranian Revolution, as well as fragments of the earth and bodies as a form of poetic calculation. The works in this exhibition evolve through repetition, where Adili’s playful transposition of form shifts into the potential for pain, death, sorrow.”

January 31 – March 8: Shanti Grumbine (Ora Schneider Regional Residency Grant, 2015) is showing work in the group exhibition Civil Twilight at Roundabouts Now gallery!

February 6 – March 6: Join Jenie Gao (Studio Residency Grant, 2025) for the opening reception of The Deer Garden at Pratt Munson Gallery Friday February 6th from 3-5 PM!

Massachusetts

February 6 – April 1: At Gallery 51 at the Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts, Junli Song (Studio Residency Grant 2025) has installed a site-specific installation titled The Garden of Memory. Exploring Song’s personal mythology, the installation is narratively driven response to the question “What happens to souls when they die?” Go check it out and mark your calendars for the accompanying performance held in the galleries on Friday March 6th starting at 6:30 PM!

January 16 – May 31: Ishara Art Foundation in Dubai is currently exhibiting Urdu Worlds, which includes Zarina’s Urdu Proverbs. “The show explores how language provides the tools with which we create and shape our internal ‘worlds’. Words, rather than simply describing our surroundings, give rise to our private lived experiences and shared cultural understandings.”
