New York

June 7 & 8: Take a trip to Brooklyn for Susan Newmark‘s (Studio Workspace Residency, 1995) open house.

@ The Bureau of General Services-Queer Division, 208 W 13th St, NYC

June 13: Come celebrate the history of trans culture making, organizing, and activism! gender liberators is an anthology of writing, poetry, correspondence, photos, paintings, flyers, and other ephemera by trans*, Two-spirit, nonbinary, and trans-adjacent authors and creators from 20th-century Turtle Island/North America. There are only about 100 copies of it, each one is handmade and unique. A copy is being donated to the Manhattan LGBT Center archives and will be available at the Bureau tonight for viewing and flipping through!
gender liberators was published as part of Sky Syzygy‘s 2023 Artist’s Book Residency Grant, and we are thrilled that the Bureau is hosting this viewing party!

June 14-27: Figureworks at Green gallery in Saugerties is featuring  Tatana Kellner‘s (WSW co-founder) recent paintings to celebrate the month of June and Pride within the LGBTQ+ community. The exhibition will be on view until July 27, 2025 with artists’ reception: Saturday, June 14th from 1 – 4PM

June 27 -August 8: Visit the Jane Lombard Gallery for Soft Structures, a group show that centers textiles as engineering. Artists featured include Jen P. Harris (Ora Schneider Regional Residency Grant, 2012).

Pennsylvania

Lilt, 1/1 Lithograph and Relief

Through June 28: Shelley Thorstensen’s (Studio Workspace Residency 2005, Studio Residency Grant 2004) of dust, STREWN: a florilegium  is on view at Terri Saulin’s No. 5 Butchie Alley in Philadelphia. The gallery is open Saturdays and Sundays, 12 – 4 and by appointment.  

Wisconsin

April 25 – October 5, 2025: In the Wisconsin Gallery of the The Bergstrom-Mahler Museum of Glass you can find Through a Window Darkly: the artwork of Jen Blazina (Studio Workspace Residency, Studio Residency Grant).

California

May 17-August 2: Visit the Abigail Ogilvy Gallery in Los Angeles for a show featuring the work of Jen P. Harris (Ora Schneider Regional Residency Grant, 2012) in this group show.

Other News

Skye Tafoya (Art-in-Ed Artist’s Book Residency Grant, 2019). has been named a 2025 Forge Project Fellow. Her practice often incorporates the practice of basket weaving which is featured in her artist’s book Ul’nigid produced during her residency at WSW.
