Last Call! Closing this Month:

Emily Lambert (Studio Intern, ’94) is showing recent painting, totems, and wall-mounted sculptures in the solo show Curio Logic II at Lu Magnus Art Laboratory + Salon, New York City. Hurry–Closing April 13!

Lorrie Fredette (Workspace Resident, ’10) is showing drawings and a 24 foot-long installation made of hundreds of waxed forms in Contact at Columbia Greene Community College Foundation Gallery, Hudson, NY. Hurry–Closing April 18!

As part of the FotoFest 2014 Biennial, Jen Blazina (Workspace Resident ’06 & ’09, Studio Resident ’08) is showing  a series of cast glass vintage cameras in the show Reflection at Koelsch Gallery, Houston, TX. Hurry–Closing April 19!

Phyllis Kudder Sullivan (Workspace Resident, ’12) is one of 12 sculptors featured in Praisesongs for the Numinous – New Sculpture at Cavin-Morris at Cavin-Morris Gallery, NYC. Hurry–Closing April 26!

 New this Month:

R&F Handmade Paints in Kingston, NY is holding their annual staff exhibition No Constraints: The R&F Staff Show. The show features work by WSW alumnae Stephanie Bell (Summer & Studio Intern, ’11), Laura Moriarty (Workspace Resident ’98, ’07, & ’08, SAI instructor, and former WSW staff), and Cynthia Winika (Artist’s Book Resident, ’01 & SAI instructor). Opening reception April 5, 5-7 pm. Show runs through June 14.

Marian Schoettle (Ora Schneider Resident, ’12) is featured in States of Security at Kingston Museum of Contemporary Arts, Kingston, NY. Opening reception April 5, 5-7pm. Show runs through April 26.

Maureen Cummins (Workspace Resident ’00 & ’06, Artist’s Book Resident ’03, SAI instructor) will give a slide lecture titled Uncovering Herstory: The artistic investigations of Maureen Cummins at Abecedarian Gallery in Denver, CO on April 10, 5:30-7:30pm.

Ann Marie Kennedy (Studio Intern, ’92, Artist’s Book Resident ’98, SAI instructor) is showing new work in Field Studies: Works in Paper by Ann Marie Kennedy and Bryant Holsenbeck at the Ackland Museum Store Gallery, Chapel Hill, NC. Opening reception April 11, 6:30 – 8:30pm. Show runs April 11 – June 1.

Kate Van Houten (Artist’s Book Resident, ’86) has one-of-a-kind books, portfolios, and etchings being shown by Soltices in the International Antiquarian Book Fair, Grand Palais, Paris. April 11-13.

Laura Berman (Studio Intern, ’97) shows relief monoprints based on supernovas in the solo show Pulsar at Haw Contemporary,  Kansas City, MO. Opening Reception April 11, 5-9pm. Show runs through May 24, 2014.

Laura Moriarity also shows sculptures made of layers of solid pigmented beeswax in the solo show Closed System at the Garrison Art Center, Garrison, NY. Opening reception April 12, 5-7 pm. Show runs through May 4.

Heidi Neilson  (Artist’s Book Resident, ’05 & ’10, Workspace Resident ’06) is featured in Parameters, a group show of artists utilizing chance, restriction, or conceptual rules, at Press Street’s Antenna Gallery, New Orleans, LA. Opening reception April 12, 6-10pm. Show runs April 12 – May 4.

Jody Williams (Artist’s Book Resident, ’89 & SAI instructor) is showing books, drawings, boxes, and specimens in Particula Obscura: A Cryptic Installation at Form + Content Gallery, Minneapolis, MN. Opening reception April 19, 6-9pm, with an additional reception May 3, 5:30-9:30. Show Runs April 17 – May 24.

Merike Van Zanten (Workspace Resident, ’14) is showing a book made recently at WSW in the group show Artist’s Book Cornucopia V at Abecedarian Gallery, Denver, CO. Show runs April 18 – June 16.

Laura Moriarty is also featured in Geo_______ , a group exhibition exploring geology, geography and geometry at Art.Science.Gallery., Austin, TX. Opening Reception April 22, 6-9 pm. Show runs April 12 through May 18.

Tyanna Buie (Studio Resident, ’12, SAI instructor) shows new painterly, collaged monoprints at the solo show “Playing Favorites” at Dean Jensen Gallery, Milwaukee, WI. Opening reception April 25, 6-9pm. Show runs April 25 through June 14.

 Ongoing Shows:

Antonia Aitkin (Art-in-Education Artist’s Book Resident, ’12) is showing print work based on site-specific markmaking in the solo show Prospect at Craft ACT: Craft & Design Centre, Canberra, Australia. Show runs March 10 – May 17.

Mariona Barkus (Artist’s Book Resident, ’86) is showing her “Illustrated History” project in Enriching & Engaging — Selected Recent Acquisitions at the Long Beach Museum of Art, Long Beach, CA. Show runs March 7 through June 15.
