Stopping by the studios this summer? Come upstairs Stopping by the studios this summer? Come upstairs to check out our current capsule exhibition in memory of former WSW alumnx, Alison Knowles, “Movements of Friendship: Alison Knowles (1933-2025).” Curated by current Nonprofit Management Intern Carissa Kolcun @carissanicole._k, with an accompanying handout designed by former Studio Intern (2025-2026) Ollantay Avila Alcocer @ollantay.xyz, the exhibition is an exploration of Knowles’ artist file. Situated in her friendship with WSW co-founders Tatana Kellner @tatana1950 and Ann Kalmbach @annkalmbach, archival materials from WSW’s special collections on display explore residencies and exhibitions at WSW that Knowles participated in as a longtime friend and community member.

📢 We’re one week away from the official release of 📢 We’re one week away from the official release of Meg Turner’s @megprinter new artist’s book “WET vol. 2” and she will be in town from New Orleans for the “Meet the Artist” series at Center for Photography in Kingston, NY @cpw_kingston on August 6th! During the talk, Turner will walk the audience through her creative process of creating “WET”, a photographic love letter to a radical queer American roadside described as celebrating “mutual aid and sexual delight… a record of a communal fantasy, a eulogy for the past, and a proposal for a queer future”. This gorgeous new WSW publication is large format, its size and scale giving a nod to vintage LIFE magazines, created using the labor intensive processes of wet plate collodion photography and photogravure printing, the results are a must see in person! Turner was a 2025 WSW Artist Book Residency Grant recipient. The event is free and open to the public.

📆Thursday August 6th, doors at 5:30PM, Talk at 6:00PM
📍CPW, 25 Dederick St, Kingston, NY

Can’t make it to the event? CPW will live-stream the talk! Tune in on their website or visit CPW on Saturday, August 8 and Sunday, August 9 for their Photobook and Zine Fair! WSW is thrilled to be in attendance for a second year in a row. We’ll have an exciting spread of artist’s books available for handling, including our recent publications. PLUS, if you attend the fair on Sunday, Meg Turner will be presenting about WET Vol. 2 from 2:15 - 2:45PM.
Right before we kicked off the Summer Art Institut Right before we kicked off the Summer Art Institute season, Susan Hamburger @hamburgerama (Anita Wetzel Residency Grant) completed a 6-week-long residency with us in our papermaking studio! While on-site, she created panel relief pieces using partially pressed paper, working wet-on-wet to allow the relief elements to fuse with the background paper. These handmade paper pieces are in conversation with a body of ceramics work focused on flatware, vessels, and urns.

If you answered yes (which you should’ve because well, who doesn’t), then you have to come by WSW to view “Rock, Paper, Sister” before the show ends!🪨📃👯‍♀️ This two-person exhibition features work by Kate Bingaman-Burt @katebingburt and Elizabeth Saloka @bettyrubblenyc.

In highlighting the overlooked and the everyday, both artists’ work suggests that even the smallest acts of attention can shape how we understand our lives. Curated by WSW’s Special Collections Manager, Faythe Levine @faythelevine.
