Sketchbook Practice with Eleanor Anderson
Dates: August 4,6, 11, 13, 18, 20
Time: 7-9PM EST
Tuition: $200 members / $225 non-members
Level: all ages (including serious young artists)
Class Limit: 12 students
Artists have kept visual diaries of their ideas and surroundings throughout history. In this online class, we’ll explore what that means during this challenging time of COVID-19. Students will get structured prompts for exploring, playing, and recording their environment in a sketchbook using basic art supplies and items at hand. We will cover mark making, pattern generating and meditative techniques for making art at home during this time. Using Zoom as a virtual meeting place, students will share their work, receive feedback, and meet a new group of artists.
Materials Required:
Note: these materials are suggested for this class, but part of the creative challenge of making art during COVID-19 is using what we have at hand. The most specific materials you will need to complete the assignments are the white out redaction tool, and the ink stamp pad. In this spirit, I gently recommend that you invest in some art supplies, but know that any one supply can probably be substituted with a tool you have at hand and possibly yield even more exciting results. The recommended brands are my “wish-list” products, but if cost prohibitive, a less expensive version will do.
