Studio Tour with Kelly Taylor Mitchell

Join us for a studio tour with artist Kelly Taylor Mitchell, moderated by WSW AD Erin Zona. This event will include a full tour of Mitchell’s working space at the Atlanta Contemporary Art Museum. According to the artist, her practice “…centers oral history and ancestral memory woven into the fabric of the Africana Diaspora.” This session will be organized as a virtual tour and will include a section of Q&A.

Kelly Taylor Mitchell
Kelly Taylor Mitchell’s work manifests as immersive installations and partnered artists’ books offering a venue for the sensorial—specifically smell—to connect, convey, and reimagine rituals and rites of autonomous kin, collectives, and individuals of the Africana Diaspora. Kelly’s interdisciplinary practice spans printmaking, papermaking, installation, book arts and sculpture. Kelly has taught and mentored in community and academic contexts including: The Rhode Island School of Design, Virginia Commonwealth University, New Urban Arts (Providence), and The Visual Arts Center of Richmond. She earned her BFA in Printmaking from Tufts and The School of the Museum of Fine Art. She earned her MFA in Printmaking from The Rhode Island School of Design. Kelly currently lives in Atlanta, GA where she is an Assistant Professor of Art & Visual Culture and the Art Program Director at Spelman College.
