Emily Speed
Emily Speed is a Liverpool, UK-based artist whose practice, including books and objects, installations, and performance, explores the body and its relationship to architecture. As an Artist’s Book resident at WSW, Emily created Unfolding Architecture, relating the story of Gordon, a man who witnesses his city unfolding like paper. She returned to Rosendale eight years later to create a site-specific work for the inaugural au•gust art festival. Emily has exhibited her work and been an artist-in-residence in the UK, the US, and Europe, and was shortlisted for the 2013 Northern Art Prize. She holds an MA in Fine Art from the University of the Arts, London.
