In this workshop, you will master the fundamentals of safer intaglio by focusing on the methods of electro-etching and exploring their extensive potential. Using innovative etching and safer practice processes, you’ll learn to safely prepare plates, work with alternatives, set up and maintain your own electro-etching studio space. The session will cover the scientific principles underlying the non-toxic intaglio processes within traditional etching (equivalent to electro-line) and aquatint, open bite, (electro-tint), along with selected experimental methods. Non-toxic Baldwin Intaglio Ground (BIG)and safe cleaning solutions will be introduced during the workshop.

This course will explore work methods relevant to both structured professional environments and flexible, improvisational studio settings. All levels are welcome.

We will have an opportunity to look at the WSW’s special collections in the beginning of our workshop for inspiration and research purposes.

This workshop is currently in the week-long members-only registration period. Registration will open to the public on February 4th.
