Screen printing on fabric can involve anything from free-form image making to controlled repeated patterns on yardage or paper. This workshop covers a full range of stencil making techniques, from simple paper cut designs to photo emulsion processes that utilize drawn and digital films. Participants learn repeat pattern image making methods and multiple color registration printing techniques using WSW’s 16’ fabric printing table. Yardage printing is a collaborative, physical, and technical process, requiring a balance between solo design work and enrolled artists working jointly in the printing process. Participants will have the opportunity to complete two 2-color designs, with the possibility of more as class time permits.

Artist

Erin Zona

Erin Zona has an M.F.A. from the Rhode Island School of Design and a B.F.A. from the Kansas City Art Institute. Erin is a practicing artist with a special interest in research-based projects that utilize archives and special collections. As Artistic Director at Women’s Studio Workshop, Erin oversees the artistic integrity of all WSW programs and coordinates exhibitions on and offsite. She organizes the selection panels for all of our competitive programs and is responsible for marketing WSW’s artist books and portfolios.
