This workshop will focus on a range of hand papermaking techniques with an aim at creating a series of two-dimensional assemblages. We will primarily use Western-style sheet forming to create layered mixed-media collages. We will also touch on Eastern fibers and sheet forming techniques and the different characteristics of each method. Participants will bring their own collage/assemblage elements to work with, which might include other papers, drawings, prints, textiles, or natural elements. The workshop will provide a fun opportunity to experiment with a variety of pulps including cotton, linen, abaca, kozo and an assortment of naturally harvested fibers. We will also add pulp painting to our toolbelt. The approach will be to lay it all out, and allow participants to select the methods and fibers best suited to their aesthetic preferences. No previous papermaking experience required.

In order to reserve your space in the workshop, we require a deposit. Registration is on a first-come first-served basis, and you can read about our refund and cancellation policies here.
