Print, Dip, and Dye! Learn to make your own rice paste resist and dye with indigo. We will explore the process of making an iron indigo vat and applying resist paste to fabric through a traditional Japanese process called Katazome.
Please note we will be working small to give time to go through the entire process
This workshop takes place in our silkscreen studio located on the second floor, up a flight of stairs. There will be some periods of prolonged standing.
This workshop is currently in the week-long members-only registration period. Registration will open to the public on February 4th.
Artist
Erina Schultz
Growing up along the shores of Florida, Erina developed an early connection to nature that continues to shape her artistic practice today in the Hudson Valley. Her studio practice centers around cut-stencil printing and natural pigments, drawing on traditional Japanese katazome techniques to inform her process. By incorporating natural materials directly into her work, she explores the interplay between environment and art, bringing elements of the outdoors into the studio. Erina earned her BFA with a concentration in printmaking from Appalachian State University and continues to study art through workshops and her art community.
