How do materials collide and synthesize to convey our embodied and metaphorical stories? How might we translate old prints, drawings, and cloth scraps to enrich something new? We will use fibers such as mulberry, abaca, cotton, recycled materials, and fabrics as foundations for fusing, embedding, layering, and image construction. Participants will explore pattern, texture, and color from matrices, stencils, and other fragments through water-based pigments, and pulp blowouts, with experimental drying techniques including stack, restraint, and air drying. All levels of experience are welcome. All are encouraged to feel empowered to play with the possibilities.
