In this non-toxic workshop, participants will learn the fundamentals of safer intaglio, specifically electro-etching methods and explore its endless possibilities. Participants will gain a working knowledge of the science behind electro-etching, safely preparing and etching their metal plates as well as maintaining a non-toxic work environment. 

Workshop will cover the following processes: electro-line, electro-tint, open bite, electro-graphite, along with the electro-galvanizing method. BIG ground and other safer solutions will be Used. By the end of this workshop, participants will not only print a small edition of their prints, but also gain the knowledge and confidence to set up their own electro-etching tank in their studio.

Malgorzata Oakes

Malgorzata Oakes was born and raised in Poland, and graduated from the Eugeniusz Geppert Academy of Art & Design in Wrocław, Poland in 2001 with an MFA in Printmaking. She is an accepted candidate to a PhD Scientific Program in Arts with a concentration in Printmaking at the Academy of Arts &

Design in Wrocław, Poland. Her processes are primarily based in experimental printmaking. She focuses on searching for alternative processes and finding new ways to repurpose elements found in nature, treating them as fibers for creating handmade paper or as new matrices for relief, intaglio, or silkscreen prints. Her latest work focuses on researching non-toxic processes in printmaking, specifically the electro-etching intaglio technique.
