July 15 - July 19

| $350 – $1200

Pulp Paint Play – Claudia Borfiga

Dates: July 15 – 19, 2024
Studio: Papermaking
Tuition: Sliding Scale, $350-$1200
Lab fee: $100
Class limit: 8

During this workshop participants will learn how to make pulp paintings from start to finish! After learning how to form a base sheet, we’ll begin to build our imagery directly on top, inspired by sketchbooks or any reference images participants have gathered. Each participant will develop their personal palette of colored paper pulp to work from. We’ll explore how we can use different densities of pulp, and a variety of tools, to achieve different mark-making on our sheets. Organic shapes can be made freehand, whilst crisper lines can be created using hand-cut stencils. This is a low-pressure method that has plenty of space for experimenting and making mistakes! No prior experience is required, participants will be guided through each step of the process.

Initially, she intended to spend her time in the screen print studio but became enamored with learning to pulp paint. She has been a teaching artist for over 10 years and encourages a playful engagement in creative workshops.
