Tara Sabharwal was born in India, studied painting at Baroda, and completed her Masters from the Royal College of Art in London. Since 1990 Tara has lived between India, the UK and NY, making paintings and prints and regularly exhibiting her work. She has been awarded the Henry Street fellowship, International Cultural Collaborations grant, Cooper Union residency, International Exchange Residency in Japan, Conversazioni Residency in Italy, WSW Workspace Residency, CALL (Creating A Living Legacy) Joan Mitchell grant and Gottlieb award. She has taught art at the Guggenheim Museum, Cooper Union, Studio in a School, City University (CUNY) and the Rubin Museum of Art. Her work is in the collection of the British Museum, Victoria and Albert Museum, DLI Museum in the UK, and in the New York Public Library, Peabody Essex Museum, and the Library of Congress.
