Inviolable Habits

Inviolable Habits is intended to illustrate what the artist considered a common thread between brides, nuns, and sex workers. Represented by die cut tabs with a found photograph of a nun’s face open to reveal religious text and images of a scantily clad “pornographic” model representing the sex worker. The author draws parallels, starting with its title, between sexual innuendos, both religious and realized, and questions the aim of prayers such as “blood of Jesus wash me” and “love of Jesus inflame me.”
