Karen Capobianco

Karen Capobianco is a Hudson Valley-based photographer who captures nature in a luminous, painterly style. Her current work addresses the ways and languages in which nature communicates, also responding to national conversations about our impact on the ecosystem. Karen’s forms are made from handmade paper, fiber, plants, watercolor, paint, and—in some cases—toweling used in oil spill clean-ups.

At WSW, Karen experimented with alternative processes and papermaking to create sculptural forms within which her photographic imagery could interact. She holds a MFA degree from SUNY New Paltz.
