Joy Taylor

Joy Taylor came from Red Hook, NY to work in the intaglio and papermaking studios as an Ora Schneider Resident Artist in 2010. At WSW she created handmade paper with embedded materials like hair and thread and then used that paper as elements in chine colleŽ collages.

In 2015, as an au-gust art festival artist, http://wsworkshop.org/august-art-festival/about, Joy transformed three sites along the Wallkill Valley Rail Trail, wapping a grove of trees, a single fallen trunk and a pile of discarded trestle beams with colored aluminum. Seeing Far, Seeing Deep explored how natural light and man-made materials can illuminate the world of the forest. The project encouraged trail users to pause and consider sections of the trail, and properties of nature, they previously hadn’t given a second glance.
