Anthea Black

Anthea Black is a Canadian artist, writer and cultural worker living in San Francisco and Toronto. Dealing with feminist and queer histories, collaboration, materiality, and archives, their works have been exhibited in Canada, the United States, France, Germany, the Netherlands and Norway. Black has co-edited HANDBOOK: Supporting Queer and Trans Students in Art and Design Education, with Shamina Chherawala, and The New Politics of the Handmade: Craft, Art and Design, with Nicole Burisch, and designs and publishes The HIV HowlerTransmitting Art and Activism with Jessica Whitbread. Their curatorial project The Embodied Press: queer abstraction and the artist’s book will tour through 2024. They are an Assistant Professor of Print Media and Graduate Visual Arts at California College of the Arts.
