Lost and Found
- Artist:
- Valerie Maynard
In her proposal for Lost and Found, Maynard said, “I have a lot to bring as a Black artist whose culturally honed aesthetic comes from the experience of a political activist. Throughout my career as an artist, I have used my graphic works to voice my concern with injustices I have witnessed or heard of.” The portfolio includes ten black and white silkscreen prints, features an introduction by Toni Morrison, and was produced as part of Maynard’s ongoing No Apartheid series. The large format prints utilize found materials and photographs as a means to contribute to the commentary surrounding the global struggle against tyranny and oppression.
