Back by popular demand - Mend with a Friend🧵🪡👖👕✂️ Join us in the front room on Monday, September 14 at 6PM for the return of our monthly Meet & Make Mondays!

Do you have a pile of clothes that need repair or garments you want to alter? Bring them to this month’s Meet & Make and revamp your wardrobe! Hand mending supplies, like needles, thread, embroidery floss, and fabric glue, will be available for shared use. Plus, simple printing methods will be available to make patches or print directly onto clothing. Not sure how to mend? We can help!

Please note: This is not a workshop. Examples and printed instructions will be available as resources. Skillshare is encouraged, and we’re happy to figure it out together.

Please RSVP if you plan on attending any of our sessions. While not required, this will help us best prepare the amount of supplies and snacks to provide for the event. Link in bio.

💫This year we aim to shine a light on the enduring and trailblazing work of Sara Pasti @sara_pasti, Kingston Ward 1 Councilwoman, former Director of the Samuel Dorsky Museum, and Vice Chair of the Ulster County Arts & Culture Advisory Council.

Save the date for “Cosmic Queer,” opening on Friday, October 2nd, 6-8 pm, a solo exhibition by Boston-based artist Maria Molteni @strega_maria. Molteni will be weaving together recent works that highlight their intersection of interests in the cosmos, queer identity, and relationship with the Divine (and divination) and syncretic- the merging of beliefs and thoughts- Catholic studies and practices.

Fall is quickly approaching, and with that comes the return of Meet & Make craft nights! To kick off the season, we’re thrilled to bring back Mend with a Friend on September 14th. 🧵🪡👕👖✂️💫

Please RSVP if you plan on attending. This will help us best prepare the amount of supplies and snacks to provide for the event.

Meet & Make at WSW is a time to gather in community and dedicate time to making together. Bring a friend or make some new ones while attending! Meetings are once a month on Mondays between 6PM to 8PM, drop in or stay awhile.

Materials, snacks, and refreshments will be provided, no experience needed, and skillshare is encouraged!

Our mission with Meet & Make is to create a safe, fun “third space,” and make crafting accessible to all! Meet & Make nights fully fund themselves, meaning all donations we receive go directly back into the program.

WSW cofounder Ann Kalmbach @annkalmbach is here to tell you a little more about the Tower of Babel that has popped up outside our campus. You can spot the others next to the Rail Trail, the Rosendale Library @rosendalelibrary, O+ @opositivefest, and a secret fifth location👀 Keep your eyes peeled around Kingston and Rosendale over the next few weeks to spot it!

Accompanying each tower is a sign that reads:

“The US government has banned over 250 words that are no longer acceptable to use in federal documents. KaKeART, Ann Kalmback @annkalmbach & Tatana Kellner @tatana1950, believe these words are essential to appreciate and enjoy our human diversity and uniquely American culture.

We have constructed, with the structural engineering help from Robert Woodruff, and administrative support from the Rosendale Library, 5 towers of Babel displayed throughout our community. Each tower has 50 words randomly selected from Pen America’s evolving list.

This project is also made possible in part with funds from the Statewide Community Regrants Program, a regrant program of the New York State Council on the Arts with the support of the Office of the Governor and the New York State Legislature.”
