Are you signed up for a Summer Art Institute works Are you signed up for a Summer Art Institute workshop? We can’t wait to welcome you to WSW! As you make preparations to join us here in Rosendale, have you thought about how to nourish yourself while you’re working hard in our studios? We have the perfect solution for you! Register for an SAI Meal Plan to remove the hassle of meal-planning or dining out!

Our buffet-style meal plan provides five locally-sourced home cooked lunches and one dinner with a glass of wine, prepared by Chef Lexa Walsh @lexawalshstudios, for just $155. Chef Walsh is experienced, talented, creative, and equipped to accommodate dietary restrictions.

Thank you to everyone who came to the opening cele Thank you to everyone who came to the opening celebration for “You Deserve Your Flowers,” a group ceramics exhibition curated by Lena Chin @lenalaiceramics! 💐 The exhibition will be on view through September 19th. You can stop by our campus to check it out Monday through Friday anytime during our business hours of 9AM-5PM. 

During a time of immense social-political violence against people of color, women, disabled, and LGBTQIA+ communities, this exhibition offers a place of respite and recognition. Through the lens of contemporary ceramics, “You Deserve Your Flowers” features emerging artists of color exploring themes of identity and healing. Featuring work by Laura Casas @casas.studios, Isissa Komada-John @isissa, S.Lantz @s.l.a.n.t.z, Vanna Ramirez, Sam Shamard @sam_shamard, Viv Siqueiros @viv.ceramics, and Alexis Tellefsen @tellefsenatelier.

CURATOR FEATURE: Meet Lena Chin @lenalaiceramics, CURATOR FEATURE: Meet Lena Chin @lenalaiceramics, curator of the group ceramics exhibition, “You Deserve Your Flowers.” During a time of immense social-political violence against people of color, women, disabled, and LGBTQIA+ communities, this exhibition offers a place of respite and recognition. Join us for the opening celebration in our gallery on Saturday, May 17th, from 4 to 7 PM! 

Lena Chin is a first-generation Ecuadorian-Chinese artist and curator based in New York’s Hudson Valley. Bridging her biracial heritage with a focus on material storytelling. Chin’s practice spans ceramics, exhibition-making, and critical dialogue. She holds a BFA in Ceramics from SUNY New Paltz and is pursuing an MA in Museum Studies, deepening her commitment to reimagining institutional narratives and amplifying intersectional voices. In 2025, she was awarded the Helene Zucker Seeman Curatorial, Research, and Critical Writing Fellowship for Women by the National Council on Education for the Ceramic Arts (NCECA), recognizing her innovative approach to bridging art, community, and critical theory.

Chin’s studio work is a vibrant exploration of identity, belonging, and play through the lens of a biracial artist. To see Chin’s work, visit lenalaiceramics.com.

★ SUMMER-ART-INSTITUTE INSTRUCTOR HIGHLIGHT ★ ★ SUMMER-ART-INSTITUTE INSTRUCTOR HIGHLIGHT ★ K Sarrantonio will join us for one week of CMYK experimentation this August! Immerse yourself in the incredible world of halftones! Check out their workshop “Photo-based Screenprinting: Light and Shadow.” Link in bio.

K Sarrantonio uses experimental printmaking processes to represent aspects of queer domesticity. Born in the Hudson Valley, K lives and works in Jackson Heights, NY. They received an MFA from Rhode Island School of Design and a BA from Hampshire College. They have attended residencies at Vermont Studio Center, Crosstown Arts, Kimmel Harding Nelson Center, McColl Center and Women’s Studio Workshop.

SAI at Women’s Studio Workshop is a time to focus on your work, become energized and inspired, learn new skills, and meet a new community of like-minded artists! SAI workshops are open to all and follow a sliding-scale tuition model. Learn more on our website, wsworkshop.org.

ARTIST FEATURE: Vanna Ramirez, a participating art ARTIST FEATURE: Vanna Ramirez, a participating artist in “You Deserve Your Flowers,” a group ceramics exhibition curated by Lena Chin. During a time of immense social-political violence against people of color, women, disabled, and LGBTQIA+ communities, this exhibition offers a place of respite and recognition. Vanna Ramirez is a Baltimore-based artist working in clay, exploring the intersections of sculptural and functional ceramics. Her work pushes the possibilities of the material, blending technical expertise with creative experimentation. She holds a BS in Studio Art from Skidmore College and has expanded her practice through the Special Student Program at the Tyler School of Art and Architecture, workshops at Penland School of Craft and Haystack Mountain School of Crafts, and NCECA’s Multicultural Fellowship. Her residencies include Red Lodge Clay Center, Arquetopia, and Baltimore Clayworks.

As the founder of Vanna’s Studio LLC, her first independent business, Vanna is building a sustainable creative practice rooted in community engagement and artistic exploration. In addition to her studio work, she is a sales associate at the Baltimore Museum of Art Shop, where her ceramics are also available for purchase.
