August 7 – 29, 2015
In conjunction with august art festival, there are many exciting events happening in Rosendale. Check them out!
Sky Lake | August 27, 5 – 7 pm
Crickets & Koi : A Spontaneous Haiku / Brush / Flute Event Celebrating the Nature of Water at the Sky Lake (22 Hillcrest Ln). Since the Heian period (794 – 1185) the Japanese have celebrated nature by holding gatherings outdoors, often near a body of water, to enjoy music, write poetry and create calligraphies inspired by it all.
Join us at the Sky Lake on a late summer afternoon and we will recreate this tradition of spontaneous art in nature while listening to the crickets and watch the koi drift in the pond. Sitting on the grass, sipping plum wine, enjoying Japanese delicacies, we will listen to the sound of the flute and the arising of haiku poetry inspired by the setting. When the brush lands on the page, space becomes form and poetry banners appear, hanging from bamboo poles, moving in the breeze.
This event is free and open to the public. Check out the Facebook event page here.
Rosekill Performance Space | August 9, 12 pm – midnight
