Risha Rox

Risha Rox is a Los Angeles based interdisciplinary artist working in body art, painting, live art, installation and sculpture – a practice which she refers to as Corporealism. She holds a BA from the University of California, Berkeley in African Diaspora Studies and an MFA from Goddard College in Interdisciplinary Arts. Deeply informed by her heritage as both a multigenerational Black Los Angelina and a first generation Jamaican American of East Indian descent, her autoethnographic practice redefines commonly held notions regarding the human body, particularly the Black body.

Risha recently had a solo exhibition of her series, Heavenly Bodies in New York City as Artist-in-Residence of Chashama/Squarespace/SeeMe. She is looking forward to an upcoming residency at the Woman’s Studio Workshop this fall. Risha is also the Makeup Department Head on Random Acts of Flyness, an experimental variety show by director, Terence Nance, currently airing on HBO.
