Jennifer Thomas
Jen Thomas is a designer, artist, printmaker, educator and writer based in Chicago, Illinois. She worked in the hand papermaking studio in a WSW Fellowship (now Workspace Residency).
Jen earned her B.F.A. in Communication Arts from Virginia Commonwealth University; studied printmaking at Plymouth University, Exeter, England; and completed an M.F.A. in Interdisciplinary Book & Paper Arts at Columbia College Chicago, Jen is currently a Teaching Artist at the Chicago Center for Arts and Technology (CHICAT).
Jen has taught graphic design and illustration at DePaul University, the American Academy of Art, Columbia College Chicago, the Illinois Institute of Art and The Chicago High School for the Arts. In addition to WSW, she has been a visiting artist at Ragdale Foundation, Ohio State University, Longwood University and Columbia College Chicago. From 2012-2015 Jen was founding director of werkspace, a gallery and community arts space dedicated to showcasing the work of emerging artists while also offering community arts workshops. Jen’s board games, artists’ books, prints and drawings have been exhibited nationally and have won several awards.
