Marja Vleugel is a Dutch artist who came to WSW for a special residency in conjunction with the 2009 Ulster County Quadricentennial Celebration marking the 400th anniversary of Henry Hudson’s voyage up the Hudson River. During her residency at WSW, Marja worked in the etching studio on a series of prints about bridges. She is a graduate of the Utrecht School of Arts, and incorporates both lithography and etching methods into her practice. Marja lives and works in the Netherlands, running a graphics and print studio in Alkmaar.
