Japanese-American ceramist Mari Ogihara holds an MFA from Tyler School of Art. She came to WSW as a Chili Bowl Workspace resident, where she made fifty vessels using her signature glazing technique: air brushing glaze through knitted pantyhose tied tightly over the ceramic form. Her sculptural practice juxtaposes Eastern and Western ideas of identity and community informed by her multicultural heritage. Mari teaches ceramics at Manhattanville College and exhibits her work nationally and internationally.
