Linda Montano

Linda Montano, a native of the Hudson Valley, is an important figure in contemporary feminist performance and video art. Linda has been awarded two WSW production grants for her artist’s books A Heart Before Art / Life Counseling and The Art / Life Institute Handbook. Both books are part of her ambitious project to investigate the relationship between art and life through intricate rituals and ceremonies, performances of which Linda has also done at WSW. Linda’s work is considered critical in the development of performance and video by, for, and about women; she has exhibited and performed extensively, including at The New Museum in New York, MOCA San Francisco, and the ICA in London. She holds an MFA from the University of Wisconsin, Madison.
