Heather O’Hara

Heather O’Hara is a printer and bookbinder who came to WSW to produce her artist’s book The Handbook of Practical Geographies. She received her MFA at Cornell University and founded Plunger Press, where she is currently the head printer. She lives and works in Baltimore, MD.

A playful explorer and collector at heart, her work focuses on the concept of chance, games and the external forces that impact our lives and environments. Welcome Holly!
The goal of the Upstate Art Book Fair is to create The goal of the Upstate Art Book Fair is to create a welcoming and accessible platform for both emerging and established publishers from all over to connect with one another, sell, and showcase their works with the greater upstate New York community. We're accepting applications for exhibitors until Friday 5/27! Check it out through the link in our bio.

Bring your textured fabrics or papers, tree bark, Bring your textured fabrics or papers, tree bark, sandpaper, and more to make collagraph plates with Sue Oehme @sueoehme this summer in Collagraph Combo! In the first half of the workshop, participants will create various collograph matrices using silk aquatint, paper collograph, carborundum aquatint and drypoint techniques. These finished plates will then be printed in oil-based ink colors with the addition of watercolor elements and stencils. These techniques allow participants to experiment in a variety of artistic styles, including both realism and abstract images. Learn more and sign up for the workshop through the link in our bio!

Welcome Kat Richards! @kat__richards is joining us Welcome Kat Richards! @kat__richards is joining us as a Studio Workspace Resident creating monoprints in our intaglio studio. Currently, their research as been visually based in mythology, particularly half-beings as a way to theoretically explore the notion of a non-binary/trans body.

COVID-19 Policy Update

As of November 1, 2021, Women’s Studio Workshop is requiring all students, instructors, staff, residents, and visitors be fully vaccinated before coming to the studio’s campus. We will continue to require the use of face masks while in the studios, and ask that every person who enters the studio track their temperature using the thermometer stations at the front and side doors. Thank you for helping us ensure the health and safety of the whole WSW community!
