Ginny Sims-Burchard is a ceramic artist and educator living and working in Minneapolis, Minnesota. She holds an MFA from the University of Minnesota, and has been the recipient of a variety of awards and grants. Currently she teaches ceramics and art history at the Minneapolis Community and Technical College, as well as at the University of Minnesota. Her ceramic work focuses on how different functional forms and past ceramic traditions were structured by forgotten, implied and traumatized senses of self, family and community. This manifests itself in imaginative reconstructions that follow this trail of objects to see how they pertain to our current ways of living.
