Alayna Ho is a Chinese-American artist born and raised in New York City. She received her BFA in printmaking from the Rhode Island School of Design in 2019, and continues to work within the medium.
Her work functions as a cautionary tale to a younger self, re-examining formative moments in an attempt to locate and define a point where pressures to solidify a cultural identity begin. Using imagery of anonymous, genderless, and ageless figures, she constructs improbable and nonsensical scenarios that express the feeling of cultural displacement, imagining a visual representation of a non-existent cultural no-man’s land or in-between space.
