Meet the Chef! Lexa Walsh @lexawalshstudios will b Meet the Chef! Lexa Walsh @lexawalshstudios will be joining us as our Summer Art Institute chef!

Lexa Walsh is chef and artist who specializes in nourishing fellow creatives at retreats, residencies, and film sets, as well as creating special parties. World travels, farmer’s market bounty and an exuberant spirit have influenced her cooking. In her socially engaged art practice, she often incorporates food and radical hospitality as a way to bring people to the table, where she believes anything can be accomplished. She recently relocated from the SF Bay Area to the Hudson Valley.

To enjoy her tasty dishes, you can register for our buffet-style meal plan which includes five locally-sourced, home cooked lunches and one dinner with a glass of wine for $155. You must register at least one week before your SAI workshop begins. Link in bio. You may also join us for Slide Night on 8/18 to learn more about her artistic practice!

During this period, WSW hosted many programs with feminist artists at local businesses and spaces supported by the local community, which created the foundation for our ongoing legacy.

Check out what Jenie Gao @jeniegao (Studio Residen Check out what Jenie Gao @jeniegao (Studio Residency Grant) has been up to in the studio recently!

While here, Jenie is continuing their body of work “The Negotiation Table,” where they print with hand-carved woodblocks and then transform the blocks into installations and sites of negotiation. They’re also working with letterpress to print pages for an artist’s book entitled, “Yuǎn Yuàn.” “Yuǎn Yuàn” is a collection of stories addressing land, housing, and inter-generational memory through their mother’s experience of leaving Taiwan to her current home in rural Kansas.
