Spark Media Project

Spark Media Project (formerly Children’s Media Project) is a non-profit arts and education organization that empowers youth through the media arts. Spark provides workshops, after school programs, and in school residencies that teach critical viewing of media, encourage youth to be creatively engaged in the Media Arts, and offer employment and growth opportunities for youth.

Spark Media Project hosts the international Reel Expressions Youth Film Festival, which showcases youth-produced short films of various genres from around the world. Reel Expressions is an exciting continuation of Spark’s current work, which empowers teens to become active participants in the media and not only consumers. This event provides a venue for young people to feature their work, and to have it recognized and validated by an audience of their peers. It is also an opportunity for our community to gather in celebration of the voices of our young people, and to support their creativity and productivity. Reel Expressions has grown exponentially in the past years, and is quickly becoming a hallmark of the Hudson Valley Arts & Cultural Scene, enriching the Community at large.

Join Spark at the au•gust art festival for an exclusive screening of the 2014 Reel Expressions finalists, where young people will have an opportunity to sign up for free tickets to Reel Expressions 2015.  This year’s festival is scheduled to open on September 26th at Poughkeepsie’s Historic Bardavon Opera House.
