Mary Hark is the proprietor of Hark! Handmade Papers, which specializes in small editions of high quality flax and linen papers, and produces unique paper works for exhibition. In 2006, Hark received a Senior Fulbright Research Grant to study textiles in West Africa. Since that time, she has spent several months each year researching textiles and developing a papermaking project. She is the co-director of the recently established Krataa Foundation, in Kumasi, Ghana, the first hand paper mill in West Africa producing high quality paper; with a commitment to training, and artistic collaboration. Mary Hark received MFA School of the Art Institute of Chicago and is a Professor of Design Studies at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. She exhibits her mixed media work internationally.
