Shushan Avagyan was born in Armenia and came to the US to study book arts at Ceder Crest College. After graduating, she came to WSW as a studio intern. Her fascination with text, poetry, and books lead her to recently complete a PhD in English at Illinois State University, where she did research on Armenian texts in translation. She has since returned to Armenia, where she is a lecturer at the American University of Armenia.
