Sharon Gilbert
For over 20 years, Sharon Gilbert (1944-2005) used artists’ books to address pressing social issues. A lifelong Brooklyn resident and celebrated artist, Sharon earned her BFA at Cooper Union and did graduate work at the City College of New York. She came to WSW to produceA Nuclear Atlas, which exhaustively chronicles sites of nuclear activity and accidents. Sharon’s books and collages have been shown in major exhibitions at venues such as the Brooklyn Museum of Art, the Museum of Modern Art, and the Georges Pompidou Center in Paris.
