Elizabeth Melnyczuk
Elizabeth Melnyczuk was born on Long Island, NY. While receiving a BFA in Printmaking from SUNY New Paltz in 2015, she interned with Dieu Donne and Deb Chaney Editions. After graduating, Liz spent time with Lower East Side Printshop and on Binnewater Lane as a studio intern for Women’s Studio Workshop. She went on to earn a Professional Printer Certificate from Tamarind Institute in Albuquerque, New Mexico and then moved to New Hampshire, where she taught printmaking and zine courses to college students and in after school arts programs.
Liz uses the knowledge she has of printmaking processes to inform the marks and imagery that appear in her work. She employs an aspect of play in her cross-media creations: asking questions in paint, clay, and print that lead to more questions and eventually, to finished drawings, objects, and editions. Liz lives once again in the Hudson Valley and finds herself inspired by returning to the familiar, as well as by her garden, the Town of Olive Pool, and the Catskills.
