DESCRIPTION:Image Credit: Kiva Fateh \nSAI Scotland is returning in 2026 with Hybrid Printmaking–Texture\, Color\, Line with Lucy Turner. We have reimaged the course and extended the stay. Don’t miss out on this incredible opportunity to create art at Rua Reidh Lighthouse\, at one of the most dramatic and remote locations on the north-west coast of Scotland. This printmaking workshop will be held from June 10 – 19th\, 2026. \n  \nAbout the Workshop\nWork in an intimate group of participants with guidance from our expert teaching artist\, Lucy Turner. Turner is an experienced hands on artist who has a unique approach to print. This 8 day course will help you improve your printmaking knowledge and develop ideas into an original print using a series of printmaking principles and experimentation. \nExperience hands-on learning with demonstrations that reveal techniques including chine collé\, collagraph\, trace monotype\, drypoint\, and reduction linocut taught by Lucy Turner. Whether you’re a seasoned printmaker or just starting out\, this workshop promises to be an enriching and inspiring experience. \nThis is an opportunity to work alongside 7 artists in this magical setting. There is one single room and three double rooms available. A stone-flagged conservatory will be transformed into the printmaking studio\, and whenever possible\, you’ll enjoy your meals outdoors amidst the stunning scenery. \nThere will be an opportunity to reflect on the course with your group\, share what you will take away from the experience and revisit your favorite technique. There are three room-types available at a variety of price points: a single-occupancy bedroom on the first floor ($4500)\, a shared bedroom on the first floor ($3800)\, and two shared bedrooms with an ocean view on the second floor ($4000). \n  \nsingle-occupancy room is currently reserved \n  \n\n \n  \nfirst floor double-occupancy room is currently reserved \n  \n  \nAbout the Location and Accommodations\nRua Reidh Lighthouse is near Gairloch in Wester Ross\, standing at the entrance to Loch Ewe\, with breath-taking views across the Minch to the Isle of Skye\, the Shiant Isles and the Outer Hebrides. There are three room-types available at a variety of price points: a single-occupancy ensuite bedroom on the first floor\, a shared ensuite small twin bedroom on the first floor\, and two shared ensuite twin bedrooms with full ocean views on the second floor. These rooms are reserved on a first-come-first-served basis; please use the correct room link when you register. \nWe’ll have time to explore the rugged\, dramatic area around the lighthouse and watch for wildlife including whales\, basking sharks\, dolphins\, otters\, white-tailed sea eagles\, gannets\, and many other birds. Views are stunning from any point on the headland. One hike hugs cliffs and sheep trails all the way to the white sands and turquoise waters of secluded Camas Mòr beach. The more intrepid can then continue on to the ancient woodlands at Loch an Draing and circle back over the moorland. If you are interested in hiking or exploring\, please bring hiking boots with ankle support and expect rugged terrain. \nWhile most days will be spent working in the studio\, we’ll take a one-day excursion to visit Poolewe Market and the unforgettable Inverewe Gardens. All participants should plan to arrive with ample time to meet at the designated location and board the bus. A bus is scheduled to return students to Inverness Airport by 9am BST on June 19th; the bus will be at the lighthouse at 06:30 to load baggage prior to departure. Connecting flights to Inverness are available from Amsterdam\, Gatwick\, and Heathrow. Our hosts recommend flying through Amsterdam for ultimate ease of travel. \n  \nRegistration\nWe are thrilled for you to join us on this unforgettable art-making adventure! Upon registration\, a $500 non-refundable deposit is required to reserve your space. Any remaining tuition and lab fee payment is due one month prior to the start of the workshop. If you register within one month of the class start date\, we ask that you pay in full at the time of registration.
