Join Our Board

As we approach the exciting 50-year anniversary of Women’s Studio Workshop, we are pleased to announce an open call for new Board Members. Our application is open now until August 15th. Read below for details on WSW Board Service.

Who can serve on the WSW Board?

Our Board Members, staff, and volunteers are united in our mission to contribute to a society where women’s visual art is integral to the cultural mainstream and permanently recorded in history. Read about our history here. At this time, we are expanding our board by 2-4 members and are seeking candidates who share our commitment to the growth and operations of our mission, vision and programming.

Why serve on the WSW Board?

Board service is a great opportunity to support and learn about the management and governance of a non-profit arts organization and to meet like-minded people. Service on the WSW board is for you if you are enthusiastic about the operating and maintenance of an artists’ workspace that encourages the voice and vision of individual women and trans, intersex, nonbinary and genderfluid artists.

What does WSW Board service entail?

Be prepared to share some of your time and skills. WSW Board Members are expected to participate in 6 meetings per year, held in the evenings, online, and to serve on a topic focused subcommittee of their choice which conducts activity through email and a shared drive. We recognize that Board Members have a wide range of responsibilities and commitments, and we prioritize time-efficient communications and activities.

Do I need experience or special skills?

No. We actively seek applicants that represent a diverse set of life and work experiences and can apply their expertise to our Board activities. In addition, we provide onboarding and mentorship from existing Board Members.
