Six Ways to Clay covers six ceramics forming techniques in six weeks: pinching, coiling, throwing, trimming, and assembling thrown and handbuilt parts together. Each class begins with a demonstration of the techniques of the week and ends with guided practice. All projects will be finished at the end of the session by dipping, pouring, brushing, or sponging on layers of glazes and underglazes. Students are welcome to work at their own skill level and pace; no special artistic skills or abilities are required.
$220 members/$245 non-members. Tuition includes one bag of clay and firing fees. Non-refundable $100 deposit is due upon registration. To register, call the workshop at (845) 658-9133 or email email@example.com.
Alexis Feldheim has been working with clay for almost two decades. A former middle school special education teacher, she has managed to combine two of her favorite activities: ceramics and teaching. Alexis obtained her BFA in ceramics from SUNY New Paltz in 2008, and has taught ceramics at Hudson Valley Pottery in Rhinebeck, and Art Centro in Poughkeepsie.
