“Semblance” by Margeaux Walter
August 8, 2015 at 3:00 pm - 4:00 pm| Free
Encounter Margeaux Walter’s live performance throughout the Wallkill Valley Rail Trail with performers camouflaged into the environment. Much of the performance is being adapted to the surrounding landscape, allowing the performers to disappear and reappear into the environment. By simulating nature in her costumed figures, she is referencing the human footprint and growing disconnect between the environment and contemporary consumer lifestyle. The performance is interactive, giving viewers a form of scavenger hunt to find the performers, and the opportunity to participate in their respective worlds and to reconnect with nature on a more visceral level. Park at Binnewater Kiln Parking Lot and explore the Rail Trail to find Margeaux’s costumed performers.
Margeaux Walter is a Brooklyn-based artist working with photography, video, performance and installation. She received her BFA from the Tisch School of the Arts at NYU, and MFA from Hunter College.
