DESCRIPTION:Light as a Feather\, Still as a Board: Techniques in Paper Casting – Sarah Rose Lejeune \nDates: July 18-22\, 2022\nStudio: Papermaking\nTuition: Sliding Scale $300 – $1200\nLab fee: $100\nClass limit: 8 \nRegistration for this workshop is full. If you would like to be put on the waitlist\, please email info@wsworkshop.org or call our office at 845-658-9133. \nClick Here For Materials List \nUsing experimental casting processes rooted in fiber properties and hand papermaking techniques\, students will learn to record dimension and texture with paper pulp. Beginning with technical basics such as fiber processing in the Hollander beater and western sheet formation\, students will apply these skills to a variety of non traditional paper casting methods such as embossing with the hydraulic press and vacuum table\, carved and collaged low relief moulds\, found moulds\, use of additives\, and laminate casting objects with high shrinkage fibers. This experimental workshop will emphasize the unique nature of paper as a casting medium through a wide exploration of this material. This course will cover ways of working applicable both to professional and more improvisational studio contexts. All levels are welcome. \n \nIn order to reserve your space in the workshop\, we require a $150 deposit.
