SUMMARY:*Ink\, Paper\, and Thread: Artist’s Book Editions with Liz Castaldo
DESCRIPTION:Ink\, Paper\, and Thread: Artist’s Book Editions – Liz Castaldo \nDates: July 28 – August 1\, 2025\nStudio: Silkscreen (Second Floor\, located up one flight of stairs*)\nTuition: Sliding Scale\, $450 – $1300\nLab Fee: $150\nClass limit: 6 \nMake your artist’s book dreams a reality in this silkscreen-focused workshop. We will go over how to make several book structures by hand including one page books\, accordion books\, pamphlet bindings\, flexagons and drum leaf bindings. We’ll make one collaborative zine together as a workshop and then participants will spend the rest of the workshop developing\, printing and binding a small edition of artists’ books. The silkscreen printing process will allow us to create multiples of our book pages. Participants will learn how to create hand drawn and digital transparencies\, expose their images to the screen and print several copies of their book pages! \nParticipants can come to the workshop with an idea for their artist’s book in mind but we will also have some time for brainstorming and working through strategies for developing content. The instructor will be available to work with each student to tailor their idea to an appropriate book structure and go over efficient ways to lay out pages for silkscreen printing. We’ll also look at and discuss how content works in different types of book structures and get inspired through artists’ books in the WSW collection. \nIn order to reserve your space in the class\, we require a $250 nonrefundable deposit. WSW offers a sliding tuition model for the Summer Art Institute\, and you can pick your desired tuition level from the drop-down menu at check-out. For assistance in selecting your tuition level\, see this guide. If you are in a position to pay full tuition or more\, we request that you do so. The pay-as-you-can model is not based on tax returns or documentation\, rather your self-determined capacity to pay. Registration is on a first-come first-served basis\, and you can read about our refund and cancellation policies here. \n*Any questions regarding accessibility\, please call our office at (845)658-9133 or email info@wsworkshop.org. \nThis workshop is at capacity. Please email info@wsworkshop.org or call 845 658 9133 to be added to the waitlist.
