Join this year’s chili bowl expert in pinching, stretching, cutting, pushing, and pulling clay into form. Whether you’re interested in making pottery or ceramic sculpture, this class will enable you to develop new skills and techniques. Take ideas from concept to finished glazed piece with the help of group demos and personalized instruction. All skill levels welcome.

Mel Doiron is a potter based in Halifax, Nova Scotia and WSW’s 2017 Chili Bowl Intern. Primarily using hand-building techniques, Mel uses slabs to create utilitarian pots. Mel is currently working towards a BFA with a major in Ceramics at NSCAD University in Halifax, Nova Scotia. In the past, she has worked as an assistant in various studios around Nova Scotia, most recently as Joan Bruneau’s assistant at Nova Terra Cotta Pottery, and as a studio assistant and clay mixer at NSCAD University.
